I know grills and here are the best grilling tips.
First, let me tell you why I am qualified to educate you about grills. I sold grills for two years at Lowe's Home Improvement and asked reps from many different companies a lot of questions about their grills. I also worked for 4 years in the food industry and have absorbed a lot of information from experts in the field. Let's just say if an attorney were to ask me a question on the subject it would have to begin " in your expert opinion..." You make up your own mind if I seem to know what I'm talking about. Let's begin. Before purchasing a grill, I believe you should do some research first. What are you looking for in a grill? Would you spend a little bit more than you had figured in your head if it were built to last for 20-30 years or more? There are grills that fit that requirement and do not cost as much as you might think. For starters, just because a grill looks like stainless steel doesn't mean it is stainless steel. This is the biggest error in purchasing a grill that I see. Take a magnet with you to the store or find one in the hardware section. If a magnet sticks to the grill, it's not stainless steel. Stainless steel is completely non magnetic and will not rust. You may be thinking, OK smart guy, if it's not stainless then what is it? It looks like stainless steel to me.
This is the brand of grill I own. It is a charbroil commercial series and is not stainless steel. It is steel with a titanium coating sprayed on and brushed to look like stainless steel. Sort of like those driveways you see that look like cobble stone but are really stamped concrete. Yes, it's an illusion. Some manufacturers even use stainless steel on the hood of the grill and the look alike stainless on the sides, so try to stick the magnet to everything. I'm not criticizing any manufacturer out there because I know they need to build grills in each price range, and of course a completely stainless steel grill is not usually found under $500. They do however last a very long time, but the internal parts are another story.
